This sumi-e AI style has been created from a small curated archive of my personal explorations of this traditional art. I was so curious how AI could be used to extend this exploration. I had tried a few times to teach myself some of the techniques because I thought they were so beautiful. Then, I had an excuse to further explore sumi-e when I was exploring creative directions for the Healing Garden - a Coty Beauty USA brand. The spa-like brand seemed to align well with the minimalist and tranquil aesthetic of sumi-e, which often depicts nature, and evokes a sense of peace, which seemed a perfect match. Over time, I tried the brush techniques in both ink, and using gestural digital brushes. I ended up creating a sumi-e minimalist vector animation style I used to regularly update their content. This AI style is sumi-e brushstrokes and themes fine-tuned toward a minimalist vector style.
